We must face facts: so long as automation means converting manual tasks into software, we will see massive numbers of displaced workers, in ANY occupation or industry where work is "structured."
The vast majority of "work" in our economy today is shaped by rules, codified procedures, structured tasks -- exactly what Project Manager do! -- all of which lend themselves quite readily to automation now.
The difference today isn't so much that work can be automated -- it's the RATE OF CHANGE and POWER of this automation that's different this time.
"Education" might better serve us by becoming more about learning HOW to learn, rather than digesting tons of knowledge to prepare us for that one single occupation our parents expect us to hold for the rest of our lives.
